Joe McDaniel Photography

This website is new (April 08) and will be undergoing significant change over the next month or so.

My interest in photography began while living for 25 years in Southern Africa. I turned to a wider variety of subject matter but still visit Africa regularly. As a biologist I am drawn to simple images in nature and enjoy wildflower and macro photography. I made the transition to digital in 2001. I prefer to print my images on canvas, or on medium-density-fiberboard, without the confinement of the traditional frame, mat and glass. I enjoy photographing panoramas, both horizontal and vertical. Most of the images on this website are for sale. For information go to contact Joe and send me a message.

Activities and Interests

I am an active member of the Parker Artists Guild. As a writer my stories and blogs are regularly published in local newspapers. I also volunteer as a school tour guide and newsletter contributor at the Wildlife Experience Museum in Parker, Colorado. I produce and present slide shows on travel and wildlife topics for interested clubs or non-profit organizations.

Book Publishing

Since publishing my 2007 Portfolio online, I have published several books with travel themes and one of short-stories titled "A Bloggers Home Companion." All of these may be previewed on-line and purchased at Blurb.com. Search for my books under the author name Maxfocus. If you would like someone to publish your annual family album, portfolio book of your art or photographs, or a genealogical record of your ancestors, let me know. High quality, coffee table style books offer wonderful opportunities for fund-raising or for just preserving family wedding, vacation, or childhood memories. The quality is exceptional and prices are very affordable for minimum quantities of only one. My new 54 page photographic essay on Cabo Pulmo, Mexico, titled "Baja Sol" is available now. Log on to www.blurb.com and type Baja Sol in the search field. The first 15 pages can be previewed there.
